It's (really) hot in Arizona, which makes it difficult to get the family outdoors and off their screens! Here are five fun outdoor activities for the family to do to take advantage of our cool(ish) nights and our scorching days.
Backyard camping. Set up a tent in your backyard and let your kids enjoy the thrill of camping, while still having the comforts of home close by!
Backyard Movie Night. Small projectors are more affordable than ever! There are even mini-portable projectors that can connect to your phone, giving you the freedom to create an outdoor movie night. Just create a screen out of a white sheet, lay down some blankets and pillows, and enjoy a movie under the stars.
Glow-in-the-Dark Chalk Art. Sidewalks and driveways can get pretty warm during the day, but creating art after dark may be the perfect creative outlet to beat the heat.
Sun Prints. We have plenty of sun in Arizona, so why not use it to our advantage! Gather flowers, leaves, or other flat objects and arrange them on sun-sensitive photographic paper in direct sunlight!
Solar Oven S' mores. Help your kids build a DIY solar oven using a shoebox and tinfoil to harness the sun's energy. Placing a marshmallow on a graham cracker square and waiting for about 20-minutes will produce a warm gooey summer treat.
